What is a email list?
A email list is a list of people, who recieve messages via email from a central
source. The people on the list are called subscribers, and in most cases, subscribers
may also send messages to the list. Unlike a standard email, people can choose
whether they want to receive messages or not. Its basically an easy way of reaching
lots of people, even if they're not logged into their computers at the time.
How do I join?
Use the form on the listinfo page, which is at http://seven.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/rave-wire.

How do I stop receiving messages?
You stop receiving messages by unsubscibing from the list. You can do this
by going to your subscription options page, and clicking the button
labelled "Unsubscribe". To get your subscription options page, go to the
listinfo page, enter your email address in the box near the bottom
of the page, and click on the button labelled "Edit Otions" Alternately,
send an email to rave-wire-request@rave.co.nz with
the word unsubscribe in the subject of the message.
Note that the email address you use to unsubscribe must be the same one
you receive the list emails at. (You can usually set this in your email
preferences.)
I'd like to get all the messages sent together once a day. How do I
do this?
You initially receive messages as soon as they're sent by other subscribers.
However, you can receive your messages in a digest. The digest
contains all the messages from the previous 24 hours in one email, and
is sent out once per day. If you want new messages sent to you straight
away again, you can choose to turn off the digest mode. You can turn digest
mode on and off from your subscription options page.
How do I change the email address the messages come to?
First you need to unsubscribe using your old email address. (See "How do
I stop receiving messages" above.) Then change to your new email address
and subscribe afresh. (See "How do I join" above.)
How do I post a message to the list?
To contribute to the list, you have to be subscribed to it first. Secondly,
you must send the message from the same email address that you used to
subscribe (see above if your email address has changed.) Then its as simple
as sending an email to rave-wire@rave.co.nz with
your message in the email.
Why did my posting not show up?
At present, rave-wire is a moderated list, which means the listmaster
reviews all postings for newsworthiness before they are released to the
list. So your posting is probably just waiting for the listmaster to
review it. Other possible reasons are: you are not subscribed to the
list or the list
doesn't allow
posting,
or
the
list
server is
still
processing
your
message
(it sometimes takes a few minutes.) Usually you'll get an error message
if you do something wrong, so check your email inbox. If you think something
is wrong with the listserver itself, please email
the listmaster .
How do I stop receiving copies of my own postings?
By default, your posting to the list is emailed back to you as well
(since you're a subscriber too!) You can change this using your subscription
options page if you wish to not receive your messages.
Can I read messages posted to the list before now?
Yes, every message that is sent out is saved on the server in an "archive",
so you can read or reread previous messages at your leisure, and these archives
are available on the web from this page.
